Hi, I’m Miranda Stauffer. I’m a native Texan, a wife, and proud mama to three sweet and silly kids. One thing that I love about photography is that it makes you slow down and really take in the moment. Little details that might normally be passed by can be captured and looked back on.
Why did I decide to call this Heart & Hymn Photography? Well first of all, you’d be surprised how difficult it is to pick a name that has a website available. But more importantly, I wanted a name that would reflect values and truths that I hold dear. If I had to pick a quote that best describes my life it would be:
I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
- Psalm 40: 1-3
Jesus has changed my heart. There once was a time when my life seemed like an irredeemable pit. But the Lord used what was intended to harm me for good. He showed me that my worth is not measured in what I have done, but what Jesus has done for me. He washed away my bitterness, and taught me how to find joy in Him. Now I strive to live my life in a way that reflects His goodness. I am grateful that God has given me photography as a means of enjoyment and to glorify Him.
My photos are typically light and bright with vibrant colors. I am able to offer posing suggestions to my subjects, but I also enjoy capturing organic moments that highlight each person’s unique personality. When I retouch photos of people, I like to enhance or draw attention to their best features, while still maintaining a natural appearance.
I can be pretty active during a photoshoot. I will do what it takes to get that perfect shot! Sometimes that means climbing up rocks, and sometimes that means laying in the grass. That could also mean running to keep up with kids or pets!
